Trivita AI is honored to congratulate Professor Nhật, Founder & Chairman, on being awarded the COPSS Emerging Leader Award 2026—one of the most prestigious academic honors in modern Statistics and Data Science. This milestone holds special significance not only for the Professor personally, but also for the Vietnamese scientific community on the global academic map.

The award is presented by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS), a council representing leading statistical associations including the American Statistical Association (ASA), the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS), the Eastern North American Region (ENAR), the Western North American Region (WNAR), and the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC). Each year, no more than eight scientists worldwide are selected through a highly rigorous review process. The award recognizes early-career researchers within ten years of completing their PhD who have made outstanding and transformative contributions in both theory and application, while also demonstrating leadership that helps shape the future of the field.

The award committee acknowledged Professor Nhật’s pioneering contributions to building statistical foundations for modern AI. These include foundational research on Mixture-of-Experts, advances in Optimal Transport, and theoretical developments in Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) for foundation models. In addition, the committee recognized his dedication to teaching, academic mentorship, professional service, and the cultivation of scientific networks in Vietnam. These contributions have been nurtured within leading international academic environments such as The University of Texas at Austin and have extended to a global network of students and collaborators.

Reflecting on this milestone, the Professor shared his deep honor and emotion at being the first Vietnamese recipient since the award’s inception. This achievement affirms the impact of Vietnamese intellect on the global stage and reinforces his commitment to advancing the intersection of statistical foundations and breakthroughs in modern AI to generate meaningful societal value. He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his family, colleagues, collaborators, and students for their continued support and trust.
